Meet
Mark Cabot

Mark Cabot has lived in South Windsor with his wife Renu for the past 14 years.

He is the Associate Executive Director at The Cornerstone Foundation in Vernon, where he helps run three homeless shelters, a community kitchen, a clothing bank, and a food pantry. During the pandemic, Mark organized the “Unsung Hero” parades to celebrate local heroes. He also co-founded Hartford Bags of Love, a nonprofit that supports people facing homelessness and food insecurity in Hartford County.

Before coming to Connecticut, Mark worked as a teacher at a school for children with cognitive and social-emotional needs. He has also volunteered at schools in Malawi, Costa Rica, Thailand, and Japan, bringing educational support to students around the world.

If elected, Mark plans to keep an open-door policy for students and teachers. He believes the Board of Education should listen more to students, celebrate their successes, and address their concerns.

Mark and Renu have three children: a son in college at Wagner College in New York, a son in 8th grade at Timothy Edwards Middle School, and a daughter in 1st grade at Orchard Hill Elementary School.
